The first qualifiers to join the Professionals on Monday are coming through as Round Two of the qualifying rounds is underway.
First through was World Ladies Champion Reanne Evans, who fired in a magnificent 95 clearance on the way to a 4-1 win over Andrew Rogers. She is joined by Craig Steadman, who pumped in 87 in beating John Woods 4-0 and Callum Downing who won 4-1.
Evans will face China’s Xiao Guodong at 9am Monday morning. Steadman has booked a plum tie against Jimmy White and Downing faces World No. 1 Mark Williams.
SUNDAY AT THE PTC
Welcome back to our rolling news. Round One continues this morning and Round Two matches start at 13.00.
First winner today was Antony Parsons, with a quick fire 4-0 over James Firth, helped by a run of 57.
Former Top Pro Tony Knowles lost out 4-2 to Nick Jennings, semi finalist in the recent IBSF World Under 21 Championship. There was also disappointment for another star of former years, Brian Morgan, who lost 4-2 to Gareth Green.
China’s Chen Zhe is in action beat Poland’s Grzegorz Biernadski, 4-1 with a top run of 94.
Another former pro Justin Astley has set a new high break target, rattling in 124 in a 4-1 win over Jack Culligan, Darwen’s Astley also made 51 and 50.
On Q Promotions’ Jamie O’Neill battled through to a 4-3 win over Danny Brindle with a best run of 54.
Ireland’s Joe Delaney, striving to get his Main Tour place back, started in great style with breaks of 62, 71, 83 and 50 in a 4-0 blitz against Sachin Plaha.
Another former pro, Ashley Wright, from Grimsby punched in 88 and 66 to beat Andrew Milliard 4-1.

REANNE EVANS GETS VERDICT OVER JUDGE
On Q Promotions’ Reanne Evans recorded an excellent 4-1 win over Michael Judge, the former World Number 24.
Ireland’s Judge won the opener with a run of 65 before Evans countered to win the next two on the colours.
The World Ladies Champion compiled a superb 93 to win the fourth and closed out the match with 52.
Evans’ 93 is the highest break of the day so far.
GRAY BASHES MAQSOOD
Former Scottish Open Champion David Gray beat Bash Maqsood 4-0 to book his place in the second qualifying round.
Ben Harrison fired in 65 and 62 to beat James Cahill 4-0 and he now plays Scotland’s Marc Davis who rattled in breaks of 67, 52, 59 and 63 in a 4-2 win over James Buck.
Zak Surety won a 4-3 thriller against Mitchell Mann helped by runs of 67 and 64.
Welshmen Duane Jones, Andy Roger and Jak Jones all recorded wins to book their place in the second round.
